This is so basic, so fundamental, its no surprise that the only interests against it are those that benefit from keeping people in the dark (usu. to profit off people voting against their own interests)...because these interests know they can't win on the merits.

It would be a very, very bad sign for what's left of our democracy if even something as simple and obviously needed as this can't pass the legislature. When one considers that what we really need is public financing of elections its almost embarrassing to even be having to debate such basic disclosure rules.

I'll be watching this vote closely. thanks Trent.
