This Thanksgiving Thank California Agricultural Industry and Workers
In this week’s Democratic weekly radio address, Assemblymembers Cathleen Galgiani (D-Livingston) and Tony Mendoza (D-Artesia) wish California a happy Thanksgiving and thank the state’s agricultural industry and workers for making California a major producer of agriculture.
You may listen in English or Spanish. The transcript is below.
Hello, this is Assemblymember Cathleen Galgiani.
As Americans sit down to give thanks this week, Californians will notice they have something to be especially grateful for.
California’s cornucopia of agriculture provides us with the freshest locally sourced ingredients that make our Thanksgivings truly delicious.
But did you know our agricultural products are sold to over 150 countries and every state in the union?
And amongst the 50 states, a number of crops are produced almost exclusively in California.
These include almonds, figs, raisins, artichokes, olives, and walnuts.
In all, California’s 75,000 farms produce over 400 products and lead the nation in sales of vegetables, fruits, nuts and dairy products.
The economic and physical health California’s bounty provides is extraordinary, but this kind of output can’t be achieved without our agricultural workers.
So on behalf of the California Legislature, I would like to thank the millions who farm, process and truck this food to our tables.
California’s agriculture is something we can be truly thankful for, alongside the friends and family we spend this Thanksgiving with.
And please don’t forget there is plenty of time to donate food or volunteer your time to make sure every Californian can enjoy this holiday.

This has been Assemblymember Cathleen Galgiani.
Thank you for listening and have a wonderful Thanksgiving.

If you really wanted to sincerely thank the agriculture industry, how about a little attention to the cronic water problems in the state of California?
No periferal canal, delta smelt encroachment over humans, no new dams...
And the democratic "leadership" under Speakers Nunez and Bass placed legislators from THEIR OWN PARTY, Assemblymembers Arambula and Parra, in office spaces in the capitol basement and across the street for even bringing up water issues in support of their agriculture constituents but against the democratic "big city" party line.
Simply amazing...
