"Privacy Revolt," a web page and project of the Consumer Federation of California, is our site of the day

Privacy Revolt! , a project of the Consumer Federation of California, tackles the issues at the intersection of civil liberties and technology, with news and commentary on government and corporate surveillance, identity theft, data brokers, tracking devices, and the security of consumers' financial, medical, and phone records. It covers both California state issues and news and federal matters as well.

There is a privacy bill list that has information on every bill pending in the California state legislature, each of their fates (many are on the Governor's desk awaiting his signature or veto) as well as links to fact sheets and support letters for the best of them.

There's a legislative calendar, a nifty widget, that shows when privacy bills are being heard in committee, voted on by the Assembly or Senate, or being sent to the Governor. Don't expect to see anything for October--but go back to September and you will get an idea of the usefulness of the calendar.

There's also an archive of previous articles and a listing of privacy organizations--and--get this--their own privacy policy.

Privacy is such an important right. If you care about this, this page is a one stop shop for information.

You can keep up with developments on the page by subscribing to an RSS feed.

The Consumer Federation of California (CFC) has been a powerful voice for consumer rights since 1960 both in California and nationally. Great to see that they have taken this on with a grant from the California Consumer Protection Foundation.
